Talk about a white Christmas! To give those folks who live in sunny places a little perspective, December is not always like this! Actually the chance of a “white Christmas” in Toronto is only 35%, so this year was quite an experience! An experience given the ice-storm that blasted over Eastern Canada last weekend, and then because beautiful, white, fluffy snow fell on Christmas’ evening. It was magical.
My plan was to bite the bullet and head to Future Shop and Best Buy this morning to buy a TV for my new place, but thankfully I found an awesome deal online, and made the purchase from my couch this morning, which allowed me to head out into the great, white, wonderland!
And a great, white, wonderland it was! The snow stuck to the ice beautifully, and, well, take a look for yourselves.
We could constantly hear snow, ice and trees falling. We’d then look to see a big, puff of snow as another branch collapsed because of the weight.
Every branch looked like this. Ice covered in snow. And for those foreign to snow, it’s hard to describe, but if you could crack that branch in two, it would break like a tooth pick. We tried hard not to touch anything. Hopefully the ice will thaw out soon because the trees are still suffering from this quite badly.
(oooh! look me in action!) Our walk was obstructed in every direction we walked.
^ The path…
Our poor road took quite the beating.
My mama out on the ice. The paths were paths-no-more, which meant we had to nip across the pond to avoid broken trees.
It was really hard to choose just a couple of photos to post, as every photo was so beautiful (although the photos don’t do it justice), This was certainly a walk, and white Christmas to remember.
